Webmaster's Note:  The "Wanted" section has been split into two parts, Wanted-Apparatus and Wanted-Parts, Accessories Etc.  I am also in the process of rearranging the listings so that the ads are in descending order by date or the latest ads will be at the top of the category.  The ANNOUNCEMENTS AND SERVICES section has been moved to it's own page, see below.  I would also ask that anyone that has an ad running please advise if the ad is outdated and should be removed.  Persons submitting an ad are asked to make sure that their "CAPS LOCK" is not on as receiving the ad in all capitals requires retyping to fit our format.  This courtesy is appreciated.  Images submitted should be as a jpeg attachment, not embedded in a document.  Thanks.

SCAM ALERT!!! SCAM ALERT!!!  SCAM ALERT!!!

There is a new nitwit trying to scam our advertisers.  The perp is going by the name Afton Mercier of Miami Florida.  His email invites the seller to name his price.  One of our advertisers quoted a price of one million dollars for his rig to which Afton sent the following response:

"Hello,

Thank you so much for your prompt response.

Good am Ok with the price i have contact the shipping
company and they told me they can help, but they
prefer to deal directly with the seller to sort out
all the shipping cost. So i decide to include this
cost on the cashier check i intend to send down to you

When the cashier check has been cash
all you have to do is to wire the shipping funds to
the shipping company to prepare all export paper in
regard to the shipment since they are also picking
up other items to my new home in the State and other
province in Canada.

They will contact you regarding the pick up time and
arrangement. So let me have your name and address
including your contact phone number so send out the
payment to you I will be expecting your reply soon
thanks.

Thank you and i await your prompt response.

Regards,
Afton. "

I think everybody that had an ad running got the same solicitation.  Don't stand on one leg waiting for your million dollars.

This scam goes by various names but the basic operation is to furnish a bank check, the seller deposits the check,  pays the excess to the perpetrator and gives the apparatus to his shipper.  At a later time, the check comes back as no good or stolen and the seller is out the apparatus and the "excess money" that was sent to the perpetrator.  The scam takes various guises but always has the same result.

FOR SALE:  The Tolar, Texas, VFD has a 1978 American LaFrance Century Series for sale. It is an ex-Ft Worth rig. Everything is operational, and the pump was certified until last year. It comes with 3 ladders-a 24 ft extension, 16 ft roof, and 10 ft folding ladder. It also has 800 ft of 4 inch supply & a removable deck gun. It also comes with a pike pole, 2 axes and a Kussmaul battery maintainer. The engine was rebuilt when we acquired it 12 years ago and probably has less than 1000 hrs on it since then. It has a 6V92 Detroit with very few hrs on it and an Allison automatic transmission. It probably has over 100,00 miles on the chassis. The odometer shows 89,000 but it has not worked in a while. It has a twin-flow dual stage 1500 gpm pump. It is in very good mechanical shape. It drives good, has new tires, and fairly new brakes. We change the oil and do a pm on the chassis every year even though it never gets more than 40-50 hrs on it. It was originally white (ex;Fort Worth TX) and we had it painted red when we got it. The paint is good though not show quality. The tires are like new (3 yrs old with no tread wear) and aluminum wheels. I would drive it anywhere. The Federal 66 siren on the bumper does not go. Price is $10,000.  Contact TFM & SPAAMFAA Member Matt Hutsell at hut3@windstream.net   (06/07/09--09-46)

FOR SALE:  I am selling my 1942 Seagrave Pumper that was originally sold to the U.S. Navy. The paperwork I got from Seagrave says contract # 86797 2-10-42 the Serial # B3183 Model 66E7 Date Made 6-17-42. 750 Gallon Triple Combination. In the paper work it says Tag For Los Alamitos Naval Air Base. Then it was sold to or sent to Village Of Downey in Idaho in 1959. I bought this truck from a guy in Pocatello ID. He said the Village of Downey sold it at an auction and he bought it but did nothing with it other than park it in a tree row for 15 years before selling it to me. There was a fleet of these trucks made it show serial #'s B3180 to B3192 they all went to the U.S. Navy. There is 6,440 miles on it, has the big 900 V-12 motor, and has the 6 volt wiring system. The pump pumps, but the water tank leaks pretty bad and the valves are all rusted/froze in the positions they are in one is cracked open partially and water will squeeze past it when trying to pump so I know the pump works. The guy left it full of water when he parked it in his tree row and rusted/froze all the valves and rusted out the water tank. I have all the original papers/pics everything. It has a clear Colorado title and all. I have included a pic of it when I received it, and of what it looks like now from the restoration.  I have more of both before/after. I have a little over $10,000 in it but willing to let it go for $7,500. It weighs about 11,000 pounds, and I can help with the hauling/delivery of the truck to you if needed. If you have any questions or want to see more pics, please feel free to email me at skussman@yahoo.com   Thanks,  Steven Kussman  (06/02/09--09-45)

FOR SALE:  1973 Diamond Reo.  I collect and restore vintage semi trucks.  I recently purchased a 1973 Diamond Reo fire truck from a construction company to keep it from being vandalized and probably scrapped.  I know virtually nothing about what is or is not desirable in a vintage fire truck but this truck is quite solid and deserves more than a trip to the shredded.  There is no firefighting apparatus other than the bed (body) and the pump and associated mechanics.  (tank was removed).  Truck runs, (needs a tune-up) starts, drives and stops.  Very good tires, original V-8 Reo gas motor, 228 hp, 37,367 miles also has an MT42 Allison automatic trans, air brakes and power steering.  Minor rust, interior complete all glass and original operators manual and original sales packet.  Clear PA title.  I would love for this truck to fulfill some collector's dream.  I am asking $2,900 for this truck.  Wayne Rice hllywd63@windstream.net. FOR SALE:  1923 Model TT Fire Truck for sale. This was Junction City Oregon Fire Department's first motorized vehicle. It was used to pull the steamer that was previously horse drawn. After retirement it was purchased by Gibson Motor Company's Service manager and fire dept volunteer Jake King, who started working for Angus Gibson's at his Ford agency in 1921. Jake eventually sold the TT to my father, the owner and dealer at Gibson motors. Jake kept the TT in great shape and she was painted in 83. Unfortunately Gibson Motors was forced to close it's doors this year and therefore the TT is up for sale. She starts quickly, runs and drives well and looks great. There are a few small areas of paint peeling off the wood but this is not highly visible and would be easy to repair or leave alone. She comes with one of her original ladders. You can see her on the showroom floor looking great. More photos available $14,000. Scott Knox Ph: 541-482-2063  (02/21/09--09-11)

FOR SALE:  I am offering for sale this 1946 Mack LS85 Pumper truck. This truck originally saw service in Rhode Island, and I bought it about 6 years ago and took it to Florida. When I got it, the motor needed quite a bit of work. I have had the motor professionally restored (It is the Mack Thermodyne 707) and it is in excellent condition. New manifold, distributors, heads magnafluxed, gaskets, and valve job. All internal parts were checked out, and are in excellent condition. Brakes were done, transmission was gone through and is in excellent condition. Basically all the mechanical has been completed with the exception of the carb. I have located one, but have not purchased it, since I no longer have an interest in fixing it. I moved to Michigan 4 years ago and brought it with me, it has been stored inside since I purchased it.

The truck is in excellent mechanical condition, and I was told the pump was operational when I bought it. It really just needs the aesthetics completed. Minor body work on both doors, paint, chrome, seat recovered, etcetera. I had hopes of finishing it and driving it in parades, but just don't have the time, and now would really like to sell it to someone who will complete her.

I have over $ 8000 invested in the truck and the repairs, not counting the freight to move it twice, and very little investment is needed to finish it. Lights, gauges, axe holders, etc are all there. It does not have a siren or bell, although I have located those as well. I can help you find someone for shipping, or you can pick it up. I don't mind holding it up to 60 days as long as it is paid for.

I am asking $ 5000 for it, and taking a loss on my investment, but I know that the economy has got everything somewhat depressed. I don't need any more ridiculous lowball offers as I have been offered $ 3950 for it, and have been offered a little over $ 3000 just for some of the parts. I believe it is worth more than $ 5000 (I imagine the motor alone is probably worth almost that), but right now with the way things are, I will take $5000. It would make a great group project for a fire house. I do not want to part it out, but am at the point where I may start. So far I have not sold anything off of the truck. Please feel free to email me at deereoldiron@yahoo.com  or call me at 269-788-4564 with any questions.

The only condition is I would like to see pictures of it when you finish her. Have a Happy New Year! (01/05/09--09-02)

FOR SALE:  1962 KA800 Seagrave 75' ladder truck (Cloth top). I purchased if from a local department that had purchased it many years ago from the Bayport NY FD. No title only bills of sale. I believe the clutch went out during a parade last year. I had to tow home and it will not go into gear. The clutch must have been on it's last leg when I bought it and was not told. Ladder worked, but is PTO driven and thus with the bad clutch it will not go up now. It has a PTO driven generator that I was told worked, but I never could figure out how to get it working. 2 Electric rewind cord reels minus the cords.  It has many ground ladders and Circle D lights. It will also come with original hose for ladder pipe and ladder pipe with straight tips and fog nozzle. Hose is 3" with 3" couplings and a appliance that reduces to 2.5". It came with 2 batteries, but mostly likely needs 4.  Very cold natured, but runs good after it gets going. Gas powered.  Truck is as is! No warrant! Some rust and getting worse due to having to keep outside. It was just to much truck for me to start with. It needs a good home. Call with any questions. I have more photos if you wish and have gotten a verbal estimate to fix the clutch from a local big truck repair shop of $2500.00. Asking $3500.00 for the truck, this is what I have in it. Call with questions. Marty Evans 864 947-4307(H) or (W) 864 847-9584.  (12/28/08--08-93)

FOR SALE:  An outstanding! 1979 Dodge Power Wagon Salisbury mini pumper. 360/4BBL, 4 speed, 4x4. PS/PB 1 ton. Aluminum Salisbury fire body. 400 GPM Waterous pump, 250 Gal. aluminum tank. Truck was professionally restored in the mid nineties and lightly used at a 20 call per year volunteer fire company. I've been doing this fire truck hobby business since 1999, and this is the nicest truck I've found by far. Runs and pumps perfect. Includes about 750' of 2 1/2" hose, 250' 3/4" booster on electric rewind reel with nozzle, 2 handlights, 12' aluminum ladder, 8k electric winch w/remote, hose bed cover, misc fittings, 6 Indian tank holders.1 water and 1 powder extinguisher, gas generator, 4 scene lights, Whelens strobe front and rear. Included but not shown is a Chrome Federal EG bumper mount, (also has a Whelen electronic), and a 10" engraved chrome eagle fire truck bell. Lettering is real gold leaf. Just serviced and repaired as needed at fire apparatus shop. I'd drive it anywhere. The only gripes; there is a small tear in the side of the seat, very minor scratches and dings from normal firefighting use, the swivel connection on the booster reel leaks under pressure, and...if I wasn't old and broken, I'd polish all the diamond plate, the truck would then be car show ready. No disappointments. Comes with copy of factory certificate of origin, and a CT bill of sale. Truck was never titled, which is quite commonplace with police and fire vehicles. Also CT does not title vehicles this old so a CT bill of sale is sufficient for the other States. Asking $16,500.00 OBO Questions? Call Brian 203-913-7393 or esully801@yahoo.com   (10/26/08--08-75)

FOR SALE: 1947 ALF 100 ft. ladder truck.  Reg. #9039 was shipped to Gary, Ind. on 9/22/47....it is a 1947 " 7-100-AEO-1 "....700 series, 100' aerial. "E" V12 motor, open cab.
I purchased the rig some 7-8 years ago and the motor had been replaced prior to my purchase. Included are the following: all ground ladders, wooden as well as aluminum, pike polls, hoses, nozzles, tools, etc.. I purchased the truck with approximately 75% of the original equipment and all the equipment will stay with the truck. Also included is a Q siren, red light, 2 big flood lights. The rig was tarped for the past several years, but for the last year, has been exposed to the elements. The last time I had the truck up and running was approximately 3 years ago. You ask, "why so long" My wife and I had 3 girls in the same year, so my toy money went for diapers, formula, shoes, etc..
When I parked the rig, it ran great, top speed was approximately 40-45 mph and the ladder extended the full 100 feet.  The price, $2500.00. You might ask again, why? This amount is what the reclamation storage facility (junk yard) will give me for the rig!! All the equipment stays with the rig. I could part the rig out and keep the equipment, but I bought it loaded with equipment, so that is how it should be sold.

FOR SALE:  Totally original 1953 Howe Defender fire truck. Complete, runs well including the pump assy. Comes with manuals and books, spare parts, etc. This vehicle has a 850CU Waukesha gasoline motor with dual carbs and dual ignition (magneto as well as distributor/points/coil). The motor also has the facility to be crank started! The low 6.- 1 compression and the magneto allows for easy crank starting, believe it or not! This rig needs little in the way of mechanicals but l would install a 12volt internally regulated alternator to sort out the wiring, flush the fuel and brake/trans/diff etc. This would be a very easy restoration for an enthusiast of these incredible vehicles. This rig runs and drives well and could be restored to original or converted into a fantastic hauler, tow vehicle or parade vehicle.  l'm aware of the value of this fine truck as l've been contacted by many of the ardent vintage firetruck enthusiasts nationwide. l will not sell it for parts, l may trade or partial trade and anyone with information on the Howe Defender trucks is welcome to chime in with information. May trade up/down for motorcycle or livaboard boat. Asking $3900 OBO.  Contact email: KingRoyea@aol.com   (09/09/08--08-59)

FOR SALE:  1926 American Lafrance City Service Truck. Restored in the 90's or early 2000's then put into storage. I'm told it was pulled out once every year or two for parades. Truck when put away had just over 600 original miles. Pump should work but I would assume it may need new gaskets. Comes with everything shown in the pictures. The truck with the ladders on it is 41 feet long but if the longest ladder was removed it is 36 feet long. Runs and drives as it should with a small water pump leak (can be repaired easily and might be done next week). All fluids were just changed and truck has been greased. It is a very unique and rare truck, I just have too many and need some room. Also coming up for sale are a 38 Pirsch open cab, 41 Pirsch open cab, 48 Lafrance, 62 Mack, 68 Mack and a 76 Seagrave. Call if interested, selling to best offer. Truck is located in Southeastern Wisconsin. Delivery possible. Call 262-497-5800 or email info@fsl-racine.com  (09/07/08--08-58)

FOR SALE: 1942 Ford / Ward LaFrance pumper - US Army Corps of Engineers type WLFF6 with Waterous CA1 pump, along with a parts truck, a 1947 Ford cab/chassis. Some experts have told me the WLFF6 with CA1 pump is one of only 3 known to still exist in that combination. It will be an ambitious project for the right person due to years of exposure to the elements, but with a unique and worthwhile result. Here's what you get: The pumper has a restorable body and a good frame, bad engine, wheels, and cab, driveline condition unknown. The parts truck was put away in running condition about 5 years ago, so the Flathead V8 should be useable, and this truck will help with some cab and interior parts and also wheels and any driveline components needed, as it was roadworthy 5-6 years ago. Other accessory parts I have collected for the project will be included as well. I am short on time and space for projects, so these must go, saving me from a tough decision about possibly scrapping them. Hopefully they can be appreciated by the right person. Asking $1300 for the pair, call Dan at 518-585-9882 or 518-586-6081 (leave a message if no answer) for more details or photos, or e-mail dh447@nycap.rr.com   (09/03/08--08-54)
